Digging Deeper: Capturing the Spirit of Gardens
Old Barlow’s Carriage House and Garden
Sat, Jul 17, 2021
10:00 AM-12:00 PM
Time is a transformative component of gardens. The passage of time makes each moment of each day in a garden unique and is what the very act of gardening celebrates, but gardens are also fragile and can be lost to time with heartbreaking speed. However, documenting gardens provides evidence of past activities. Armed with practical data, we can become better stewards of the rich living environment in our care.
Join James Hall, Garden Conservancy president and CEO, and Julia Cencebaugh Kloth, the Garden Conservancy’s curator of archival collections, at Julia's garden to discuss why and how to document your garden. Get inspired to capture your own garden story. Also learn about the Garden Conservancy Documentation Program, which seeks to capture and to share the essence of something that is largely experiential: the beauty and stories of a garden.
